Reenie had managed to hide her dirty little secret for three and a half months. It hadn't been to hard with Zeke's nose twitching for Yaz and the triplets busy with their own wives. She hadn't really... bonded with her new pack because honestly? she couldn't give two flying fucks about them.
Because of her curvy build, Reenie didn't show much. The cub seemed to have nestled itself snug under her ribs. Sometimes, when she was alone at night, she'd prod her belly just to feel him wiggle. Just to make sure this was real. Poor kid. He'd be born without a father, not that that was always a bad thing. But just cause she knew Draven's name, face and how good a tumble he was, didn't make him a Father. Stupid betas and their potency. Just because she was dumb enough to get herself knocked up, didn't mean she was going to burden him either.
January. February. March. April. She'd ticked the months off one by one until the rainy month hit and Reenie knew. Today was the day. Her belly pulsed with the cub's movement and all she wanted to do was run. Her wolf took over from there. She roamed the mountain, trying to find a den. On the way, she caught to rabbits to help keep her strength up. Her Mother, despite her betrayal, had prepared her for this day.
She found an enterence to a cave and lay herself on the stone floor beside a warm pool. There she changed back. Only the heat was too much on her human form. It made her sweat so she slipped back out into the mountain air. A contraction made her whimper and her wolf was uneasy about being out in the open with the cub so close to being born.
Reenie was just about to go back inside when she same him. "Draven?" Why was he here? This wasn't his territory. And what was the strange little cart-building he was coming out of? Then she saw her. Just as she was protective of her pack's land, the need to rip the girl apart drove her to run. The impact took Reenie and the girl off their feet. Only then did she smell her. "A mortal?" She chuckled, standing. "Pathetic, Drave."
