Josh had invited Tom around for a poker night. That didn't mean the boys where likely to play cards, Tom didn't even know how to play poker, but it mean that Josh had something on his mind and that there had been someone in the room when Josh left the answer phone message that Tom eventually got around to picking up.
The boy, since his mother had passed, after he'd been beaten black and blue by a couple of immortals and after he'd been dating Canan had gone up in the world. He had a little one bedroom flat now, that she came and stayed in with him most weekends. Still, Josh had called tonight, and he'd left her there alone- she's probably go to her sisters or something.
Six on the dot, he run the door bell. Kowing he was late, he had to be, this was Josh...

Josh put his daughter down in her cot, ticking her under the chin as the door bell rang. Glancing at his watch, he grinned, knowing exactly who would ring the door bell, and never actually need too. Marie was still visiting her mother, and he had given his butler the night off - recently he had cut down on the staff that were there to wait on him.
Coming down the stairs, he fiddled with the cuffs of his shirt, turning them up and pushing them up over the inside of his elbows, revealing his forearms. Much better. now, if only he had a green plastic hat and a cigarette, and he would be set. he opened the door, setting his face to placidity for a second. "Tom."

Tom grinned, leant in the door way. "Wha' no dogs to chase me away?" He laughed and pushed passed his friend and into the estate house, the huge enterance to the beautiful manor home. "I know I know I know I'm late, but if you're goingto lecture me grandpa can I get a beer first?" He was in good spirits tonight- loud too. Loud enough to distrub Grace.
Tom froze at the sound of a baby crying...."What the fuck was that?"

Josh was about to tell his friend to shut up and keep it down when grace started to cry. Instead he drew his hand down his face, massaging the back of his neck. "I just got her off to sleep..." he grumbled. "Your beer can wait Tom, first there is someone i would like you to meet." He took the stairs three at a time.

Tom did not follow, in fact he stared at his friend as he run off up the stairs towards the screaming child. Whooooa! Hang on, screaming baby was not something Tom was going to be running towards any time soon thank you very much. Hell no. He stayed put in the hall way. "oh shit." he muttered when Josh was out of ear.

Josh reached his daughters crib and picked her up, soothing her untill she calmed down. Glancing around the room, and realizing the Tom was not there, he went back down stairs, this time taking Grace with him.

Tom watched him come back down the stairs and shook his head at his best friend, a sharp breath escaping between his lips in a 'ppfft' and he went into one of the other rooms, sitting down on the couch. "You have a serious amount of explaining to do, if what I think is going here, actually is."
