Autumn stood with her back to the room, her head down, chin on chest as she leant on the desk. Her hands were flat on the top surface, and she was staring at the wooden finish. This is how Kip found her when she appeared, silent, still and not facing the rest of the Grey box room. Kip didn’t begrudge her that much, though she did say what she had come here to say. “You didn’t finish the job.” The Queen’s voice was soft, reflecting her eyes as they darted around the room. Four men lay dead, and in different states of array, the poker game they had clearly been playing scattered. One of the men seemed to have what was left of the pack of gaming chips shoved into his mouth, suffocating his airways. Kip shook her head, yes, things got brutal sometimes but there were rules to the kills they made and Tam seemed to have just about broken all of them. The fifth man was crying, still begging for his life though it was clearly slipping away. He was pinned to the bed by one of the table legs through his chest, and every time he spoke spouted blood from between stiffened lips. “Perhaps I should put you back in training, Autumn, you seemed to have forgotten everything you’ve learnt.” Though her voice was still soft, and the concern apparent Kip remained Queen, her arms folded as she stared at the young girls back, waiting for an answer. Something which she was left waiting for. Her niece was a mess, a strong willed and very proud one, but a mess of blood and bruises no less. Her hair hung over her cheeks, though there were scratches and purple welts on both of them, stretching her chin and eyes. Kip reached out, tenderly to run her fingers along where the piercings in Tam’s back had been stretched and where presumably a belt had been forced through them. The brunette winced and tugged away, straightening but still silent as a mouse. It made Kip frown and she tried again to draw a response. “If your time with Vikram is hindering your work maybe you’d be better coming off the night shift until you can handle it.” “I can cope.” Tam snarled, “I can handle it.” “Only three of these five souls have been harvested properly, Tam, what do you want me to do, turn a blind I on the others?” “I can cope.” She repeated, almost violently, lashing out and hitting Kip as the woman made to turn her around. Kip’s eyes flared. “I suggest you think very carefully about what you’re doing Autumn Devine.” She warned, and now her voice was hard, her words cold. “I think, until you’ve learnt to control yourself once more, I’ll place you in the care of one of my boys. See if they can get some sanity out of you.”

The call had come down, the decision made. Tyr had no say in the matter but had been given his orders. Apparently one of the succubi had been causing trouble and King Gwyn had asked for one of the warrior clan to play chaperone. He needed someone who would fit in among the ranks of Lust. Many of the older generation, the ranks that had proved themselves repeatedly, were eliminated on physical appearance alone. Their scars were not appealing to the eye. To their kind, it didn't matter but Lust was a whole different kingdom.
His Mother had stood at the end of his bed. Tyr had always found her to be so beautiful in her own way. She was not soft like the women of Lust. She was tough, battle hardened. Her lips were pursed into two hard lines as she watched him pack his rucksack. The very air itself was impregnated by the thoughts coursing through her head. "Are you going to say something?"
"Tyr-"
"Yes?"
She allowed the luxury of a sigh to escape her mouth. "You're so like him."
"Him?"
"Your Father."
That gave Tyr a reason to look up; to question. In his twenty-five years, he'd never heard her mention him. It had never mattered. He had the clan, his brethren and sisters, his Mother. Loyalty to them and his King. Sitting, he took her hands in his and waited for her to go on. "Malachi and I knew each other our whole lives. When his Mother hid him here, your Grandmother was one of the only people who knew his true lineage. She kept it a secret from everyone including him. Then Deborah came back for him, took your Father to rule as a rightful heir- But it was too late, Tyr. You were already growing inside of me." Her slender hands both moved to rest against her flat stomach. "He never knew about you. I never told anyone who your Father was because I didnt want that life for you. I wanted to be strong, safe, to grow up in the ways of our clan and you did."
"Thank you." Tyr kissed her forehead, "Thank you for telling me."
That had been a week ago. Since then, he'd settled into the Incubi dormatories and had meetings with Kieran, Kip and Gwyn. He knew his duties and his limits. When he got the page, he followed the Queen's voice, appearing standing at attention. His dark eyes went over the women as he didn't even acknowledge the dead and dying.

“That’s not fair.” Autumn argued when the boy appeared, her eyes went round and wide and she stepped back, hitting the table with the back of her legs. The man cried out in a breathless pain. “Oh shut up!” She snarled and shot out a burst of energy, a green lightening bolt, which struck his body and killed him with a sizzling scream.
“That’s exactly you’re problem.” Kip told her. “That’s exactly why you’re losing your nerves Tam.” She reached out to pull her niece away from her cornered position but Tam snarled at her violently, like a wild animal she felt cornered, without a choice. “You’re not scared of them; you’ve never been scared have you?” Kip asked softly and shook her head. “But you can’t be good at this until something- one of them – (She gestured the men) scare you, perhaps, being broken wasn’t enough.”
“My parents are going to go mental.”
Kip laughed sadly. “I know, but I’ll deal with them when they come to my office and yell and shout and throw their weight around and threaten my life.” Her eyes went back to the boy, and then back to her niece. “Why don’t you two get acquainted…Tyr, if you need anything…?” She left the question open, he knew where to come..

He nodded at Kip. "Yes, Queen Kip." His dark eyes went to Tam, as he sat there, simply watching. He looked more like his paternal side apparently and, as he looked at his cousin, he knew she had no idea who he was. "Messy business, this is." He murmured, walking my each corpse, checking to make sure it was dead.

"They're dead." She told him, when she realised what he was doing. Tam didnt know if she was a little put out by his need to check or not. Sure she didnt play by the rules but she knew how to kill someone and make sure their were dead...thanks all the same. Anyway, they deserved it, they deserved nasty, messy ends...it was fair...it made it easier.

"So why did they have to bring me in? What are you doing that's so wrong?"

She gave a small lopsided shrug. "I'm suppose to stab them, to keep it clean-"

"And you haven't quite managed that. If you were from where I am, Autumn, you would learn to do as you're told."
