Drip lay in Jayden's arms, looking up at the darkened ceiling and imaging the night sky that lay somewhere beyond it. They had been in Gaia almost four years now and seemed to have their life back together. She loved being here amongst wolves that were becoming family to her, seeing the babies and the children run and play, and of course, being with her own family but sometimes she wondered what Jayden thought. If she knew one thing, it was that he wasn't really a talker and, if he was dissatisfied, he'd sacrifice his own happiness if it meant she'd be happy.
So tonight, after they'd made love, she rolled on her side. "Are you happy, Jay?" She murmured in his ear, fingers drawing patterns on his slick skin. "Really happy?" And she hoped the plainness in her voice would urge him to tell her the truth. "I know being settled is... better but there was something a little fun about being on the run, wasn't there? As long as we were safe, it was an adventure. Do you miss that?"

Jayden had been laying on his back, starring at the wooden beams of the ceiling, thinking about nothing and just enjoying the cool breeze from the ajar window on his heated skin, the way bronwyn fitted so perfectly into his side. So he was a little surprised when she started asking questions. Turning his head, his faintly glowing amber eyes took her in (hey, it was the day after a full moon, he was still feeling the effects a little) and he smiled. “What’s brought this on drip? Of course I’m happy – my family is safe, settled, protected... why wouldn’t i be happy?”

She shrugged, "I don't want you to be bored." Sometimes Bronwyn worried. She worried if he didn't have something exciting that he'd want to find something better.

He kissed the top of her head. "Is this about the patrols?" A habit that had been hard to shake, Jayden still ran patrol most nights- though he was always there when she fell asleep, and again when she woke.

She nodded a bit, "And sometimes you get this look in your eye- I used to see it before you readied me and Dyl to run again. Its wild and free."

jayden sat up, and pulled Drip into him, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on the top of her head gently. "Bron - I won't lie. Part of me hates being here, hates being isolated and not being on the run. But it's because i have done it all my life - since i got out of that dungeon and into freedom. But now i have other people to think about, to keep safe, and you, and Dylan and Abi, you are my world now. Not running, you three are, and you make me happier than running ever could."

Bronwyn pulled away, looking up into his face. "I never want to make you feel trapped, kay?" She asked, leaning over to kiss his throat and then across his shoulders.

"don't worry, love" he smiled leaning back as he kissed her neck. "you could never make me feel trapped."
