Canan had blinked into Tom's room early in the morning. She crawled into the bed, the one she made him that night. Snuggling under the covers, she made herself comfortable. Though this visit was half as much about business as much as it was about pleasure. She traced a finger down his bare spine, kissing his shoulder. Tom had infused some warmth into the coolest of the Blacks.
She'd spent last night in Miriel. The good thing about being the invisible sibling was no one really noticed what you were doing until you made too much noise. And she was really, really good at being quiet. She had gone into Beth's study, looking for her sister, and seen a file with Tom's name on it. That scared her a little, thinking Beth was keeping tabs on him but the folder was more about Josh. She read it over and knew she had to tell him.
