In Everyday Clothing:
Priestess Garb:
Hathor is of average height with a delicate build. Possessing bright blonde hair that tumbles down to the middle of her back in a curly waterfall; Hathor also has pitch black eyes- a trademark of her race. The exotic combination gives Hathor an otherworldly look about her, and her eyes seem to see straight into your soul.
As to her stylistic taste- Hathor wears nearly only white, and if not white than other similarly pale and airy shades. Her preference for long, flowing dresses and few accessories or fripperies comes from her childhood behind cloister walls where the Priestess garb is similar in design. Occasionally, though, Hathor will splash out- she secretly likes shades of vibrant emerald green, because it reminds her of the lush forests and valleys of home.
Celebrity Claim: Diane Kruger
Personality:
Hathor was raised- at least from age seven onward- in the Daxenn tradition. One of the vestiges of the sometimes archaic traditions of Daxenn life is their attitude towards emotions, such as love or hate or fear. Control is emphasized above all else. This is especially true among the Daxenn religious orders where Hathor spent over a decade of her formative years.
Hathor personally, has a remarkable ability to model a marble statue when confronted with difficult or emotional situations. She shows nearly no reactions, and emotions do not appear to affect her- at least on the surface. She hides what she feels behind glassy, cold black eyes.
Underneath- however- Hathor is a much more passionate creature then one would expect a young woman in her position to be . As an empath she feels a passionate connection to nature, her vision making the sun brighter, the sky bluer, the grass greener... She also feels deeply about tradition, history and art- she has always been, and remains, a scholar. However, her upbringing has resulted in an extreme difficulty with expressing the more volatile of emotions: namely love and hate. For now, Hathor feels locked away in a colourless prison of her own making, and finds solace only in prayer and the natural world.
History:
The Daxenn:
The Order of the Daxenn originated as a race of Warrior Druids. The history of the order is shrouded in mystery and most of their glorious and dark history has been lost to the sands of time and the mists of once mighty Avalon. Here is the little that still truly known about the dark children of the Mother...
During the rule of Arthur Pendragon an order of elite Druids and Priestesses named the Daxenn severed all ties to Avalon in protest of the use of the ceremonial relics of the pagan Holy Isle at the court of the Christian Arthur. They retreated deeper into the veil between the world of humanity and the world of the Old Folk and have stayed shrouded in the mists ever since, ruled by their Queen, the illustrious Lady of the Silver Lakes.
Using black Blood-Magicks, the Daxenn tore themselves from their white brothers and sister of Avalon, building a world created of blood and tears and magic… An Eden of unsurpassable beauty, but also of great danger. It is their world, and insiders are very rarely welcomed. Today that eden is still hidden from the mortal world- a kingdom composed of 3 islands separated by the silver waters of the Lady’s blood.
Because of the their use of Arcane Blood Magicks the Daxenn have adapted into a race with a large amount innate magick and have suffered physical and magical consequences from these adaptations. They possess ebony coloured eyes and pale skin, and they live, on average, 1000 years due to all the Magick that flows in their veins. Some of the most revered and powerful Daxenn have even been rumoured to live eternally, withdrawing even further from the world you and I can claim as our own. Daxenn live, looking young and beautiful, to at least 500. After this age no Daxenn knows when they are going to die until they hit ‘The Aging’ which signals their downwards spiral towards death and their joining with the Mother once again. The Aging can happen suddenly, at any time. Its beginning signals the Daxenn’s last 50 years of life have begun, and during that 50 years the Daxenn experience a very similar aging process to that of mortal humans. It can be a painful time, or a moment that is welcomed… But it is undoubtedly hard to leave those you love behind to live on, not knowing if they shall ever join you in the Mother’s embrace.
The Daxenn are a closely-knit race, with centuries old traditions and practices. They are also fiercely religious, revering the Mother above all else and worshiping her in their own unique way; through purification and penance. However, the Daxenn also war amongst themselves, splitting into factions over political or social issues, it is a country constantly in turmoil, archaic in its political and social system, only the iron fist of the monarchy suppressing violence and maintaining peace. The Court of the Empress is the centre of all political activity in the old feudal-type system of aristocratic privilege and domination… It is a system that has remained virtually unchanged in 2000 years, from the time of the Daxenn separation during the encroachment of early Christian values…
The physical Realm of the Daxenn is named The Silver Lakes, which is made up of three mid sized islands named The Three Sisters. Few creatures besides those of Daxenn blood have ever seen this realm, rumored to be even more beautiful than the Garden of Eden. The Queen of the Daxenn reigns in her mighty capital of silver and diamonds as a benevolent tyrant, holding tightly to her throne and to protecting her people from their century’s long enemies, the Dragoons...
In the modern age- under the rule of Empress Imann Del Maladrim- the tides have changed somewhat. Though still a place of painfully traditional values, the Daxenn have begun to look forward, towards the more progressive world that most immortals no reside in. Vestiges of the old ways are still tightly wound into Daxenn culture, but the threads are slowly coming loose, and there is much hope for a bright future...
HATHOR:
For Hathor, she walks the bridge between the old and new worlds. Born out of an arranged marriage between her royal mother and noble father, she was not a child of love, but of duty. Bother her parents hearts- and in her mother’s case, her wedded vows- lay elsewhere. But despite it all, Hathor had a relatively happy childhood. Always a quiet, contemplative child, she was the polar opposite and other half of her best friend and step-sister Lillith Christos. Hathor spent the first 7 years of her life living with her mother, Imann, and her step-father Luc Christos... And spent little time in the Lakes.
However, when she turned 7, Hathor was sent- as tradition dictated- to be educated in one of the Priestess Sanctuaries in the Lakes. Unlike her mother, who had an accelerated religious education, Hathor served the full traditional term of five years. During that time she was virtually cut off from her family- but despite the painful homesickness, Hathor eventually found peace in the beauty of her secluded home. Rigerously trained as a novice priestess, Hathor decided to continue her education for a further seven years
Only her royal blood, and duty to the empire, prevented her from taking the sacred vows of the Daxenn priestesses ...
Finally, at the age of 19, Hathor was forced out of the cloistered, serene life she had been living for over a decade. That she experienced a culture shock is an understatement: the harshness of reality was abrasive and frightening for the young intellectual. Three years on, and Hathor is now more acclimated, participating actively in the political world of her mother’s court, though she still shirks the final role of taking her Mother’s crown... Still, she has learned much about politics and statecraft- particularly valuable skills, considering the path she must walk out of duty... One set out for her even before her conception.
Anything Else:
Hathor is a very powerful empath, a very prized talent among her people. She is also very mildly telekinetic, but not enough to cause any real harm, or provide any true physical protection. Her empathy abilities also make her a formidable healer- A talent that was encouraged and fostered during her childhood in the cloisters.
