Tom’s a veggie and a bit of an animal lover. Sometimes he gives the stray dog on the corner of the street the dinner he can’t finish, or scraps from the kitchen bin.
Naturally he’s terrified of vampires and things that go bump in the night.
Tom’s his mothers carer, four times a day he makes sure she takes about a dozen pills for over a hundred different things. It restricts his life greatly.
The family’s poor, despite being the ‘little brother’ to King Joshua, Tom never asks for help and never would. He struggles by with school and his work as a Red Hand spy.
Hobbies:
Science
Languages (tom can speak French, Spanish, Celtic Galic and Latin)
Human and Anima Medicine and Care
Toms got the brains rather than the brawn.

Appearance:
There’s a serious pattern between all my male characters, they’re generally tall dark and handsome and Tomas is no exception, he adheres to what is considered female fantasy. And looking at him, gazing into those deep eyes, or whilst running your hands though his short chocolate coloured hair – gasping with content seems to be ones only option.
He’s not as muscular as many of the characters in the world, nor is he ever claiming to be the most handsome but Tom carries something about him that makes him the centre of attention when he walks into a room. He’s got a lovable smile and easy eyes that elope everyone. Tom’s got what can only be described as a surfer’s body. He’s lithe and agile with a light tan an a voluntary six pack and as a spy for the Red Hand army, he has to be fit. It’s the rules.

Personality:Tom’s complex. Primarily he’s a carer. Kind and gentle hearted, he loves easily and his heart is unguarded. Tom’s a creature of immense honour and trust. He’s also very easily broken. He’s, perhaps, not what you’d expect from one ‘of the enemy’.
On the surface Tom seems very light hearted, curious and playful he likes to be the wind up merchant and keep everyone around him happy. He tells jokes and does silly things to make people laugh and he is the sense of humour compartment in comparison to Joshua (his best friend and ‘adopted brother’).
Underneath Tom’s darker, he’s a lot deeper. Underneath he’s as unsure and as scared as the next person whose been through and seen everything that he has. His hearts on his sleeve and it’s out there so far he can’t draw it in or stop it being broken. He worries about what’s left of his family.
When it comes to war Tom’s a watcher, he condones what happens of course, the bastards deserve every last piece of it, but Tom doesn’t do anything. He can safely say he’s never laid a finger on any of ‘them’. There’s a lot of thought and curiosity in his mind.

History:Tom was born into a Red Hand family. His father, Charles, being a great friend with the king- they went way back. Charles was a duke or something, honouree of course for his service to the rebels.
The West family was always really close, particularly Tom and his older sister Nat. Like two peas a pod those pair. Until she was captured (but that story comes later on.) Nat’s the reason Tom’s a veggie. He turned so when he was just five years old after his sister gave him nightmares for two weeks – she made him watch a programme on the slaughter of battery hens and he’s refused to eat anything animal since.
The West family’s greatest success was when Charlie captured a little immortal prince and princess. Twins, he caught the son and daughter of one of the main drivers for the Immortal side. Of course, Tom was just seven at the time but he remembers the celebration.
It was then he met Josh. The older boy was dark and scary and Tom went over and gave him a wet willy. The boys squabbled and then were inseparable. Have been like brothers ever since.
Still, the twins escaped after some time and the next thing Tom knows he’s without his sister. The red hands put it down to revenge. She was stolen by a group of vampires. Natalie was returned of course. After being tortured and drained and god only knows what else she was returned to them over a series of a year – piece by tiny little piece. Every day a new parcel arrived, a finger, an eyeball, and a tuft of hair. So on so forth.
Nightmares tortured Tom and the rest of his family but they got his father worse, Charles blamed himself went half crazy and tried to kill himself many times. The first he drove the family car, with Tom and his mother inside, into a brick wall. Tom was unscathed; Charles was bruised but would heal. Anita lost the use of her legs.
Charles third attempt stuck. He hung himself from the kitchen rafters. Tom came home on his fourteenth birthday to find him swinging…
Now, and for the last four years he looks after his mother in a smelly, cramped one bed roomed council house. She doesn’t get out of bed, and between working for Josh and school and looking after her Tom rarely gets a life. After all, who will give his mother her meds without him? She takes a good dozen a day, for the pain for the depression and who knows what else.
The med rotation went tits up when Tom was captured. He doesn’t remember what happened to him in that time, but a girl said she found him and over the border, told him she returned him home. All Tom knows is his mother missed three days meds and when he got home he had to rush her into hospital where she’d driven a biro into her leg.
He’s plagued with the need to know what happened to him now, and wanders the border sometimes. When he’s not busy being everyone else’s someone first.
