Sammy had decided that now she wasn't a little scared ten year old it was probably time to find out just who was living in the cave on the side of the mountain. The little elf wasn't so young anymore, nor did she live in a cellar in the pub. Rather she was turing into a beautiful young woman, she went to school, she had younger siblings and a family that loved her. She also had a boyfriend who wanted to move their relationship to the next level and a bestfriend who was trapped in a teenage love triangle. Sammy's life was all go.
Dressed in jean pants and a warm woolen jumper she climbed up the first level of grey slate rocks and sat for a moment on an outcrop, pausing to ponder at how beautiful everything in Gaia really was. She hadn't really noticed before.

Henry had put his plans for destroying or disrupting the mortals on hold. He had successfully restrained his burning passion for destruction, and was now able to focus on other things, such as re-organizing his caves. However, cleaning can be a bit exhausting, so he decided to take a break. Bypassing a lone pillar near the front cavern, he levitated himself up a narrow shaft, that broadened into the main cave entrance.
Running a gauntleted hand over the "No trespassing" obsidian signs, he chuckled softly. Not like there's been any trespassers that I can remember for a long time. Henry, clothed in his usual assortment of obsidian & leather armor, cloak and staff, strode out to the edge of the platform outside his cave. Thinking out loud, he said, "I must not forget to test the hinges of this platform...it will give me something to do if nothing else." With that, he stood a bit inside the cave entrance, and gestured a faint magical sign in the air.
With a small creak, widening to a groan, the platform outside the cave buckled and swung so that it lay at a right angle to the cave floor. However, it didn't slam against the surface of the cliff, since the many spikes underneath the platform crunched into the cliff instead, showering rocky fragments down the sheer face of the cliff before it curved into a slope.

Samantha jumped with a noise beside her, yelling as the ground just above her gave way. "What-" Having to duck as what looked like spikes trashed the rock face. Scrambling down the cliff face a little she skidded and watched everything moving around her. Sammy watched, nervous- was that some sort of defense system she'd signalled by just sitting there?
Her hand burned, and she looked down to see where she was grazed from her moving so quickly and her slide down the shingle face. Putting it to her mouth she sucked the blood spots on her palm. She stood still now, looking around the rocks around her, careful not to trigger anything else.
hmm.

As the platform slowly began to fall, Henry winced in chagrin. Damn, I should've done this sooner. The hinges are over due on maintenance. However, that interest in the platform vanished as he heard the yelp from below. "Eh? Someone's down there?" Henry exclaimed out loud. Hastily, he gestured a few magical signs and muttered the desired phrases, and the platform slowly moved back into its original position, as if it was a natural outcrop of rock. After making sure it was solidly affixed to the cliff again, Henry walked out to the edge and looked down.
He had not seen Samantha in many years, so he didn't recognize her. Still, he himself had not changed over the years...and his recent magical workings had rendered his eyes a blazing red as usual. Calling down to her, Henry said, "Sorry for the barrage...I didn't know anyone was down there. ...What are you doing here?" Even if he didn't recognize her, her aura seemed faintly familiar, somehow.

Of course Sammy recognised him, the cape, the clothes, the same weird aura. Of course it made sense now, the hide out the booby traps. She smiled, her angelic smile, a softness in her eyes. "Hello Mr Henry."
Looking around her at the land, she put her hands quickly in her pockets and added. "I was snoopy." She shrugged, girlishly.

"Snoopy? Oh, snooping," replied Henry. "Wait, do I know you? You seem familiar...yet not." As he spoke, Henry stepped off the platform and slowly sank in the air till he stepped back on to the cliff where Samantha was.

She nodded, watching him come to join her on the level. "My names Samantha-" She figured he'd get it from that. "How are you?"

"Samantha, Samantha...," muttered Henry. "Ah yes, you were one of those children I frightened back when I first went to that market! Sorry about that." What was her other question? Oh, the standard 'how are you'. "I'm fine, just cleaning out my home. And how are you faring? Where's that other boy who was with you...the...wolf-like one. Bogan? Logan?"
