With the few contacts I've received, I've realized that I must organize some of my caves. The kennels don't need to be organized, and the storage caves are already organized. However, my treasury must have a makeover of sorts. As those who can read these journals must have already come to the cave, I can leave off the description of the many different items within the individual heaps.
As the tunnel curves away from the entrance to the left, it abruptly narrows to a passage about two feet across for a few feet, then widens to about 2 meters again. (If the reader is puzzled about this gap, ask me about it; if I'm no longer around, the gap doesn't apply in a meaningful way.) After a short distance, the passage opens into a small cavern. It would fit a two-story house, so it is only small in comparison to the main cavern.
The cavern is split into three parts: two holding areas and a preparation area. The first holding area is where additions are piled up, in order of the time they were added. This area is closest to the tunnel connecting the cave to the main cavern, but an upraised ledge, like a catwalk, spreads out over most of the cavern.
A small wall separates the two holding areas, which are on either side of the tunnel opening into the cavern. However, the second is much bigger than the first. This area contains a multitude of tiny enclosures to large tables, desks, and cabinets, all formed from the rocky environment. Some of the cabinets contain different cloaks and armor styles, though my earlier tries are stored elsewhere. Also, there are small cubicles for precious metals and gemstones that I've found, although most of the precious metals, such as gold and silver, have been formed into bars or blocks. It is quite surprising on how many materials this volano contains. Or, maybe...I'll leave that for a different entry, if I ever get around to it.
Anyways, getting back to the main topic, The preparation section of the treasury is by far the largest area, if only because it would be imprudent to squeeze things together in there. However, it is normally only half-full, since it is mainly a place where I separate the input into different piles and then take some piles to my workplace to refine or produce things, before returning them to the second storage section. Here also is a small conduit to the magma tunnel, carefully regulated, in order to provide some heat to melt out impurities in metal here, before forming blocks or bars from them.
The radiance in this area is provided a bit by the magma conduit, but also by numerous gems (with radiance spells) and torches throughout the cavern. In addition, there are also several bowls of fire in which I am seeing how long my spells can last. I might describe other areas of my cave system, but I think I'll detail my library first, later.
