Name: Katie Quenelle
Age: 22
Birthday: April 17
Race: Demimortal
Species: Ocelot shifter
Family: Mate: Bill Longely
Appearance: Katie has a body mortal girls would kill for. Her long slender limbs move gracefully without effort. Her frame is naturally thin, with little in the way of curves. Slightly androgynous also, she still maintains a feminine mystique. Blame it on a high metabolism. Her angular face is framed in a thick mane of dark brown hair. Her reddish brown eyes either blaze or simmer like molten chocolate- And despite the passion in them, she maintains a certain amount of innocence.
Because of her shifter nature, Katie's most comfortable when naked. She has no shame about it. Her lithe body remains tanned from her time in the sun and freckled. When she does choose to wear clothes, her fashion sense is fun and funky. She likes clothes that are bright, sparkly and colorful. Though she makes the exception for clothes, it takes a lot to make her wear shoes. She hates the restriction on her feet.

Personality: Katie is childlike in her personality. Because of her past, she never really had the chance to emotionally mature. Although that may seem negative, she sees things in the black and white way children do. She trusts and loves easily. No one is spared from her affectionate, nature. She also forgives easily, finding it hard to hold a grudge. Katie sparkles with good humor and the need to have fun. Perhaps the worst thing about her is her inability to be serious for very long.
History: Katie was born in a rural community to a family with very few means. They couldn't even afford a Doctor to assist in the birth. Because of this, her Mother died, bleeding out from a complication. Her maternal grandmother was the only family she even knew. The woman, round and happy, raised the little girl to see the simple joys in life. There was no Father to speak of, her Mother had never told anyone who he was. It didn't matter though because the little girl grew up wild and free.
The problems began when she was about five. One day, she woke up as a cat. Now, children are prone to active fits of imagination and she thought it was all a dream... Until her Grandmother began screaming. After that, the older woman wouldn't let her granddaughter leave the farm for fear that someone would see her. They didn't have deal with the same problems as big cities but there was the constant current of small town gossip and she knew, if this got to the wrong person, all hell would break lose. So Katie was sheltered and home schooled by her.
But life can be cruel. When the older woman took ill, Katie was only seven. She didn't know what to do and eventually her grandmother died. Neighbours became worried when they didn't see her around town and came to check on the shut in and her ward- Horrified that a child had been left alone so long, they took her into the nearest town and dropped her off at an orphanage. The girl cried for her grandmother, begged to be allowed to go home but the officials couldn't let her do that. They were debating what to do with her and it seemed that Katie was to be put in an orphanage- And then a mysterious benefactor appeared. The man was a rich recluse who said he had heard of the girl's plight and came to offer assistance.
Of course, thing are not always as they seem. She was sent to live with him and his wife. The Child Services staff were touched by his generousity... But he knew her secret. The man was a collector of sorts. He had a solitary house in the mountains where he kept his menagerie of shifters to amuse himself and his friends. He had heard of the girl's ability to change into an ocelot and realized he didn't have one of those in his collection. Bring her home, Katie was stripped of all her clothes and collared. The band around her neck had the ability to shock the shifters, forcing them to change. In the habitat for the big cats there were four others: a lion, a panther and two tigers. Although the child meant less room for them all, the tiger couple named Emily and John took on the cub and raised her while the man and his friends watched from the safety of the main house.
She lived there for several years. Really, just existing. She played in her cat form to keep herself occupied. The cats took care of her as she was the youngest. They told her stories of life in the outside world so she'd remember where she came from. Already, she had forgotten names, small details, they slipped from her childlike memory. It was safe in their fake habitiat, warm, dry. Food was given to them, atmosphere was faked with the raising and lowering of lights and sprinklers that came on to water the grass and trees that they had been given. The man was never seen or heard from, but they could see his cameras. Katie forgot how the real world worked and only came to know the world of the superficial.
Then the Red Hands came, they raided the house. In terror, the cats heard the gun fire and their liberators, condemners, activated their shock collars, knocking them all out. When she woke up, she was in a lab. Cold and scared, the girl shifted back and forth between forms almost convulsively. Her companions were gone and she was all alone. Again, Katie was caged only this time there was no comfort. The scientists watched as the little cat-girl curled up and slowly began dying with no help from them. They did tests but what fun is torture with barely any reaction. Figuring she'd given up the will to live, they left her to die- And that was their first mistake. Being slight and fast, she escaped and ran. The guards shot at her but were distracted by the newest arrivals who rebelled once they saw a young girl making a run for it.
One of the new arrivals was a shifter named Bill. He managed to overpower the guard and make a run for it with Katie. The two somehow made it out of the complex and disappeared into the big world. One that she wasn't familiar with. Bill, seeing how lost she was, took care of her and, slowly their warm companionship became something more. Bill became Katie's lover, protector and provider and she gave him all the love and affection she possessed.
Along the way to Gaia, a place where they heard they could be free, they met another couple and their child on the run. Jayden and Bill had both been leaders and, instead of fighting each other, the two got along. Katie was like a doll to Bronwyn and she made the woman laugh. Unfortunately, they had to separate- Travelling in bigger groups tended to draw attention but they promised to find each other in the new world.
Anything Else:
Katie's ocelot form
Ocelots are one of the tiniest of the big cats. They are quick and cunning but also very affectionate. They have a strange need to chew on things- hence her habit of always having gum or candy on her which only adds to her childlike illusion.
Katie has a barcode tattooed on her light collarbone. It was the facility processing number.
