"One day the Princess was taken by some bad men. All the Princes sat around talking, trying to figure out how to get her back to the castle where she belonged. So one of the Princes, one that wasn't a particularly good Prince decided to sneak over to the enemies' base and steal her back. He went in under the cover of night and found the princess sleeping in a bed of straw." He reached out, fingers stroking the back of Runa's leg, the silky skin so unaccustomed to his rough hands. Kayden looked up at Zoey, knowing she'd see the truth in the story. It was theirs' wasn't it? "The Princess wasn't too happy to see this Prince because he, out of all the others, had rarely even talked to her. The Princess was sure that he didn't like him but we all know he did, don't we, Buttercup?"

Naturally there was no reply, the little girl being fast asleep now and heavy against Zoey. But it was a comfort, after all her night time routine was often very differnet to this. Zoey saw Runa get in the bath and then the nurse sorted her out to Bed. Zoey was lucky if she could creep in and give her daughter a kiss goodnight.
"I think shes asleep." Zoey's voice was thick.

"Let me tuck her in and then you and I'll go on a tour of the rest of the place." He said softly as to not wake her. Picking Runa up, he let Zoey get up and find her feet before tucking her into the kid sized bed. Tucking her in, Kayden bent over and kissed the forehead of the daughter he'd barely known. He'd change that. Straightening he blew in his palm and made a little ball of cool, red flames appear. Placing it to hover over the clay dragon on the window sill, he flicked the lights off and he and hjis Princess left the room.

Zoey lingered in the doorway a second, watching her sleeping angel and she smiled. Then she followed him nto the hall, wrapping her arms around herself timidly.

Kayden starred at her long and hard before speaking. "Come here." His voice was low and soft but carried a ribbon of something extra. Thank you Dad for that one.

She went willingly, of course, her hands dropping to behind her back. Zoey didnt take her eyes off him.

Kayden scooped her up, wrapping her legs around his waist. Carrying her to their bedroom, he kicked the door behind them and tossed her on the canopy bed he'd chosen for them. His mum had planned to get rid of it after one of her decorating sprees. Whenever she was really stressed, one of Loo's room would be totally revamped. If his Dad wasn't there to stop her, the furniture was either magically transformed or tossed in the junk piles out back. When Kayden had seen the bed he'd spirited it down here. With a wave of his hand all the candelabras exploded into flames.

Zoey's breath caught in her throat and as her body led back into the bed her hair spiralled out around her shoulders. Her eyes flitted to each of the candles and she smiled a little. "Anyone would think you missed me or something Kayden." She teased him softly.
